Matjaž Zobec

Matjaž Zobec started his piano studies at “Glasbena Matica” Music School in Trieste (Italy) under the guidance of prof. Xenia Brass and later continued his studies with Vesna Zuppin, Igor Cognolato, Flavio Zaccaria and Gianluigi Polli. During his piano studies he has taken part in many piano and chamber music masterclasses held by prof. Ruben Dalibaltayan (Armenia), Fabio Di Casola (Switzerland), Siavush Gadijev (Italy), Julia Gubaidullina (Moldova), Timea Hotić (Bosnia), Sándor Jávorkai (Hungary), Rita Kinka (Serbia), Vujadin Krivokapić (Bosnia), Isabella Lo Porto (Italy), Maria Eugenia Palomares (Spain), Kristina Petrollari Laco (Albania), Teresa Trevisan (Italy), Flavio Zaccaria (Italy), Jakša Zlatar (Croatia). For several years he has also dedicated himself profitably to the study of the organ under the guidance of prof. Enrico Perrini and the bassoon under the guidance of prof. Sergio Lazzeri and Michele Fattori.

He has collaborated as a piano accompanist in many masterclasses with prof. Leonid Sorokow (violin), Sándor Jávorkai (violin), Vasilij Meljnikov (violin), Armin Sešek (violin) and Vasja Legiša (cello) and with various choirs and vocal groups, such as the female vocal group Bodeča Neža from Doberdob (Gorizia - Italy), led by Mateja Černic, girls choir Igo Gruden from Nabrežina (Italy) under the direction of Mirko Ferlan and other local choirs.

In addition to the instrumental music, he has always been very active in choral music: as a singer, he has collaborated with various choirs in Italy and Slovenia, starting with the Mixed youth choir from Trieste under the direction of Alexandra Pertot and later with Jacobus Gallus from Trieste under the direction of Marko Sancin, with the Choir of the University of the Littoral under the direction of Mirko Ferlan and with the choirs of the Conservatories in Trieste and in Venice under the guidance of Walter Lo Nigro and Francesco Erle. He was an active member of the Regional Youth Choir of Friuli Venezia Giulia led by Petra Grassi.

In 2017 he successfully graduated and completed his Bachelor degree at the Conservatory "G. Tartini" in Trieste with prof. Flavio Zaccaria, becoming the best graduated pianist in the academic year 2016/2017: two years later he completed his Master degree in Chamber Music at the Conservatory "B. Marcello" in Venice with the highest grade in the class of prof. Giovanni Battista Rigon.

Since 2019 he has also been working as a music teacher at various music schools throughout Slovenia: in 2019–20 he was employed at the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet (KGBL) as a professor of complementary piano and at the music department of the Waldorf School Ljubljana as a piano accompanist and piano teacher; in 2020–21 he was employed at the Vrhnika Music School as a piano teacher and accompanist. In the years 2021–22 he was employed as a piano teacher and accompanist at the Music School Franca Šturma in Ljubljana (Slovenia). He is currently employed at the Music School Koper as a piano teacher and accompanist.

In 2022 he successfully passed the entrance exam at the “G. Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste and enrolled in the Master degree in piano in the class of prof. Andrea Rucli, and from 2023 he regularly studies solo singing at the Glasbena Matica in Trieste with prof. Martini Burger.

In 2023 he was admitted to the Master degree course of harpsichord at the Conservatory "G. Tartini" in Trieste in the class of prof. Dellisanti Prevedello.
